ENL 102 class of 2009

Dr. Lim - The most awesome lecturer ever. =)
Even though my English still suck, but without his coaching and guidance, gosh, I would have been worst.
I would have spelled writing as "writting" still.

Paranoia...

Readers, please feel free to skip this post. I assure you its nothing interesting. Just full of words and pessimistic thoughts.

Freaking paranoia...
My confidence level is officially zero. Thanks to you (paranoia).
I turned down my role as a presenter just because I was scared to screw up. Wth Jan!
Telling myself: It's just a presentation. Read your lines. Explain the facts. Then done. Its not like you haven't done anything like this before.

At some point, I actually do feel extremely confident. For instance, yesterday night after bathing, I was super optimistic, even excited to present because I knew everything would turn out fine. Sometimes, I even enjoy presenting. Such as last year's sociology trials, I was actually nervous while waiting for my turn. But when I got to the stand, the "me" just came into action, I was excited, happy to present my side of the story to the jury. Being able to tackle back those questions posed by the opposing team was awesome. I was on top of the world. Proud of myself that I didn't screw up.

But then, there are other "bad" memories such as my ENL presentation. Though one of my group mate said I did a good job, but I knew, I didn't. It wasn't my best. I miss out on lots of points and I just wanted my part to end asap. I even felt "bored" to present my part.
Then, today, after watching all the presenters, I got intimidated again. If it was just me on the line, I would be fine with it. But knowing that every group members' grade is on the line, and the fact that I wasn't the best choice, led me to "paranoia" again.

And so, even though I'm not presenting anymore, I don't feel relieve, more like I've disappointed myself and the group. In the end, I'm just a coward. A coward who's scared that others would screw up just because of me.

Now I know why I dreaded taking up this scholarship when I first got it,
I'm just not good enough.
It has been proven.

Can't you just pretend to be happy for me?

Sunway Pyramid

Happy Birthday Chee Wan Yen!!!
Another 19 year old trap in a child's body. =P

I made history.
First time "ponteng" class to go Sunway Pyramid. =D
Me and Joanne were like hungry pigs on a food marathon.
First it was Wraps. Super yummy! Chicken+Cheese flavour.

Next stop - J.Co Donuts!
Was craving for J.Co donuts , though I have been eating them alot lately. Last week, aunt bought us a box of mini donuts. Two thumbs up. =D
So, everyone had to hunt for it since me and Joanne practically insisted on eating them. We woudn't settle for other alternatives.
( When it comes to food, I'm really hard to please) =D
J.Co Donuts are freaking delicious! But the mini ones are definitely better.

Intended to buy only a dozen and half, but since we just had to add RM3 to get 2 full dozen, we bought 2 in the end. Yup, we are greedy people.

We saw this "little" mascott. Cute aint it? =)
The devil in me was saying " Punch that little freak's head".
Somehow nowadays, I keep having this crazy feeling of wanting to whack and punch things. Isit cause of the "incredible" strength I've acquired? ( Ash, you know what I mean)
I feel invincible.

Manhattan Fish Market for dinner!!!
We treated ourselves to a 2 serving seafood platter. It was d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s!
The cheese was heated to melt on the spot.

Calamari rings, prawns, oysters, and fish and chips. Owh, theres some rice too. =)
The fish actually "melts" in your mouth. It definitely taste better than fish n co's.

Lastly, some pictures of the gang who made it to Sunway Pyramid.

Rising stars with talent

Been catching up on my "gossip" updates. Without Astro means no more E-news. =S. Thank god there is still the website. =D

Taylor Momsen
She's only 15 years old, and already a shinning bright star.
Besides playing the hit series of Gossip Girl as Jenny, she's also signed to IMG modelling agency.

Taylor Swift, the country singer, 18.
She writes her own songs and plays the guitar. Though she was dump by Joe Jonas, but with those killer looks, I'm sure she can find someone better. E.g, Chace Crawford. Apparently, his her dream date. =)

Lucy Hale, 19, played Rose in "Privilege".
Her part as Rose was sort of the sweet, cute, but "knows-very-little" sister. Who would have thought she could actually sing. Amazing voice. Hope she will be cast in musicals in the future.

Drew Seeley, 26, acted in Another Cinderella Story as Joey.
Awesome dancer and singer.
Apparently, his voice was blended with Zac Eforn's voice for the character Troy Bolton in High School Musical 1 - the singing part.

A scene from Another Cinderella Story
The story line was kinda lame, nothing compared to A Cinderella Story. Though the dance moves and songs were actually quite nice.

Advance enrollment

Advance enrollment was a major disaster. I just can't believe how disorganized it was. People had to "fight" for their queue numbers. The only thing stopping me from complaining was the fact that I managed to get the subjects and time I wanted. So, it was Music Appreciation, Psychology or History, Statistics, and Macroeconomics. Sadly, no more Mr, Adrian as our economics lecturer. =(

Moving on, some Gossip Girl updates:

Blair and Nathan back together?

Is Chuck too late?

Vanessa has been traded up?

Serena and Dan getting back together, AGAIN?

The Malaysian education system and International Schools' system

Observation:
Kids educated in International Schools' are more vocal, sociable, confident, and matured. Plus, their command of English is superb even at a young age.

So, tell me. How can our local education system ever compete with our foreign counterparts? They actually build up a child's character. Education should be part of life, and not our whole life . It is indeed true what Mr. Adrian said, " no matter how long he gives us to prepare for our exam, we will never feel prepared". On the exam day, even to the very last minute, students are bound to rush through their notes, trying to remember as much facts as possible. There are barely any students who actually sit in their seats, mediate and wait for the papers to be distributed without even flipping through their book or notes.

Note to self: Definitely gotta try to quit this bad habit. Gotta learn how to start BS'ing impromptu to get myself out of "sticky" situations. Like the American guy my aunt was telling me about. =)

When I'm sick, I start to miss home. =S Hope I'm able to recover within this week. Pray for me people.

The Climb

This song completely sums up how I feel and what I'm facing in life right now.

I can almost see it
That dream I'm dreamin, but
There's a voice inside my head sayin
You'll never reach it
Every step I'm taking
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking

But I, I gotta keep tryin
Gotta keep my head held high

There's always gonna be another mountain
Im always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
That sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about whats waitin on the other side
Its the climb

The struggles I'm facin
The chances Im takin
Sometimes might knock me down, but
No, I'm not breaking
And I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I'm gonna remember most, yeah
Just gotta keep going

And I, I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
That sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waitin on the other side
Its the climb

Keep on movin
Keep climbin
Keep the faith, baby
Its all about, its all about the climb
Keep the faith
Keep your faith

The Climb by Miley Cyrus

Challenges and obstacles are part of life.

The only thing we can do is have faith and strive hard to break the brick wall which is blocking our path.

" Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game "

Team Edward or Team Jacob?

Rob Pattinson is freaking hotttttt!

Rob Pattinson and Taylor Lautner spotted on the set of "New Moon" in Vancouver, Canada.

Rob Pattinson as Edward Cullen
Notice his hair?
It's shorter and definitely looks better compared to his " I just woke up" hairstyle previously.

Taylor Lautner as Jacab Black - Notice how buff his become

Weekend Update

Just a quick update,

I should be burying myself in books by now. But once again, too lazy, so blah. This week was awesome as usual. Plus mum, granny and bro came! Bro bought Scrumpy for his friend's birthday. For those that don't have a clue what Scrumpy is, well, its the plush top which Lilo ( Lilo and Stitch movie) talks to when she's alone. Its super cute plus it cost RM69.90!! At least I got the free gift - CJ7 green monster. =) Managed to buy 4 books from MPH warehouse sale. "pleased with myself for starting to read story books again =)"

Finally bought BTN's clothing too. 2 hideous long sleeve collard white t-shirt and 2 track bottoms. The track bottoms were cheap and nice. Though according to my cousin, its men track bottom. Owh yea, had crabs again! =D To be specific, salted-egg crabs. Was supposed to have another round for dinner, but sadly, the crabs weren't fresh. Instead, uncle ordered salted-egg prawn as a substitute. And boy, it was delicious too. XD

So, mum and granny will be heading off to Genting to gamble tomorrow. Cousin Ash, well, I think she will be "rotting" at home. Everyone's having holidays now and I'm bombarded with numerous exams. =( Okay, I better end here. Gotta finish up the last part of my Chem. Im screwed.

God, please bless me with great health and excellent results. I need all the luck I can get.

Stress- free environment

The weekend was awesome. Going to my uncle's house was definitely a good getaway from stress and boredom. Ate home cooked food - aunt's cooking is superb by the way. Saturday and Sunday had two rounds of salted egg crabs. * d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s* =) Went jogging at 8am in the morning on Sunday - Desa Park City. The place is just amazing. There is a huge pond surrounded by greenery and walk trails where people jog, walk their doggies, cycle, walk. There were few old folks doing Tai-Chi too. Or at least I think it is Tai-Chi. Later that night, went for karaoke session at Damansara Country Club. We ( Me and Ashley ) totally murdered the song "It's over by Katherine Mcphee" =S. At 11p.m, it was badminton session time. We looked like complete noobs when compared to the rest of the players there. Especially during the first 10 minutes, we were worst than babies. Overall, it was splendid. It's worthwhile traveling 2 hours every week for comfort, good food, and the stress-free environment. =D This week will be heading over there again cause mom is coming down with granny!!

Happy birthday Kid!!!

Grow up. You'll already 19 years old. No more "I come from toy koala bears" nonsense. LOL.

And throw that pair of dirty slippers away. =D

Bill Gate's words of wisdom

Bill Gate's words of wisdom:

Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it

Rule 2: The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something before you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3: You will not make US$60,000 (RM219,000) a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you a get a boss.

Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different word for burger-flipping: they called it opportunity.

Rule 6: If you mess up, its not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents' weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way after paying your bills, cleaning your clothes, and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rainforest from the parasites of your parents' generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life has not. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades, and they'll give you as many times as you want to get the answer right. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to anything in real life.

Rule 9: Life is not devided into semesters. You don't get summers off, and very few employers are interested in helping you find yourself. Do that on your own time.

Rule 10: Television is not real life. In real life, people actually have to leave the coffeeshop and go to shops.

Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

A new chapter has begun

Visitors to my blog, feel free to skip this post. Its more of a self-reminder sort of post.

Surprisingly, when i woke up this morning. I felt a whole lot better. Thoughts like " I could have done better", " If only I haven't switch the answers", "If only I haven't panic during the exam" were running through my head the whole night. But then, I remember what my uncle said, "If only - Then everyone would be a billionaire by now." If only people knew what to do before committing their mistakes, then failure wouldn't even exist in this world. Everyone would be - perfect. So, yea, I am not screwed up. Nor will I ever be. I might not achieve certain things now, but I will eventually. From now on, I'm definitely gonna stop pressuring myself because its done no good to me, in fact just more damage. But, I must add, my aims, goals, and dreams are still there. =)

One last thing, screw those "l" who do not go through and discuss the answers for exams. How are we students suppose to learn from our mistakes when all you do is "collect back the papers"? Private and confidential? BLAH. If this is what education is all about? Then erm sorry to say, you definitely screw up big time. muahahahaha.

A new chapter in my life has just begun..=)

Screwed Up

Totally screwed up.

I've never screwed up any exam as badly as this before. Let me define bad. 90% probability of getting less than 5 marks out of 20. That's how bad it is. Well, there's always a first i guess. Goodbye CGPA, goodbye to all my dream universities. Though I might not sound that depress about it, but trust me. I am. There's no point crying over spilled milk anyway.

Thank god setbacks have become a part of my life. For instance, 2 days ago, received another bad news from my mom. Apparently, the economic downturn is starting to take effect on our lives. I shall not elaborate. Family matters stays within the family. =) I just hope this stormy period in my life will end asap cause god knows how much longer I can suck it all in before i eventually explode.

I need to find inner peace with myself now. Chaoz for now.
